The Brief & Architectural Challenge

The client sought to transform an existing residential property by dramatically increasing ground-floor living space and improving the natural flow between indoor and outdoor areas. The objective was to add a single-storey front extension to improve curb appeal, a side extension for practical utility, a rear extension to create an expansive open-plan living area, and a full garage conversion into functional living space.

Architectural & Planning Strategy

* Front Extension & Porch Design: Designed a balanced front elevation that enhances the property's kerb appeal while maintaining harmony with neighbouring homes.

* Garage Conversion: Converted unused garage space into a fully integrated habitable room (ideal for a home office, snug, or extra bedroom), complete with proper insulation and window layouts.

* Side & Rear Wraparound Extension: Reconfigured the ground floor to create a light-filled, open-plan kitchen, dining, and family living area, incorporating large rear glazing and rooflights to maximise natural light.

* Planning Application & Compliance: Prepared accurate 1:100 scale proposed floor plans, roof layouts, section drawings, and front/side/rear elevation drawings compliant with local council planning policies and UK Building Regulations.
